As the drama of the phone hacking scandal in UK unfolds with epic scenes,media professionals the world over are already examining the implications in their various countries.In Nigeria,some describe it as a sad day for world journalism.Lanre Idowu of Media Review in Nigeria says what the scandal should remind journalists of “is that freedom comes with responsibility”.
The freedom of information Bill though watered down has just been passed.I imagine there will be all sorts of ‘lectures’ now to journalists about ethics,responsibility,professionalism et al.No news is good news they say but this one certainly is news of the underworld
